Kickboxing Class

Looking for kickboxing in Hong Kong that delivers real technique, serious fitness and a community that keeps you coming back? At Verano Boxing Club, our kickboxing classes combine punches, kicks and knees into one of the most complete workouts you can do. Whether you have never thrown a strike in your life or you want to sharpen your stand up game, our coaches meet you at your level and push you to the next one. Every class is technical, sweaty and genuinely fun.

Why Kickboxing Is the Ultimate Full Body Workout

Kickboxing works everything at once. Your legs drive kicks, your core rotates through every strike, and your shoulders and arms fire combinations round after round. A single session can burn between 500 and 800 calories while building strength, balance and flexibility at the same time.

But the physical results are only half the story. Kickboxing trains your brain as much as your body:

  • Coordination: Linking punches and kicks into fluid combinations sharpens timing and body control.
  • Stress relief: There are few better ways to end a long Hong Kong work day than hitting pads at full power.
  • Confidence: Learning practical striking skills changes how you carry yourself, inside and outside the gym.
  • Consistency: Classes are structured and progressive, so you always know you are improving, not just exercising.

Unlike repetitive gym routines, no two kickboxing sessions feel the same. That variety is exactly why people stick with it.

Every class at Verano Boxing Club follows a proven structure that balances conditioning with genuine skill development. You will not just throw strikes at the air. You will learn how to strike correctly, with power and technique.

A typical session includes:

01
Warm up
Skipping, mobility work and footwork drills to prepare your body.
02
Technique
Focused instruction on the strike or combination of the day, broken down step by step.
03
Pad work
Partner rounds on Thai pads and focus mitts, where technique meets intensity.
04
Bag work
Heavy bag rounds to build power, endurance and sharper combinations.
05
Conditioning
Core work and finishers that push your fitness further every week.

Coaches circulate throughout the session, correcting form and giving personalized attention, so you improve faster than you would training alone. Curious what the gym looks like? Watch Verano Boxing Club is live on our YouTube channel for a look inside.

Kickboxing, Boxing or Muay Thai: Which Is Right for You?

New members often ask how kickboxing compares to the other striking arts we teach. Here is a simple breakdown:

Discipline Weapons Used Best For
Boxing Punches only Hand speed, head movement and footwork
Kickboxing Punches and kicks Balanced striking and maximum calorie burn
Muay Thai Punches, kicks, knees and elbows Traditional striking with clinch work

The honest answer is that there is no wrong choice, and many of our members train more than one. Browse the full class schedule to see what fits your week, or mix striking with grappling in our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program.

Built for Every Level

Walking into a fight gym for the first time can feel intimidating. At Verano, it should not. Our kickboxing classes are structured so that complete beginners and experienced strikers train side by side, each working at their own intensity.

  • Beginners focus on stance, guard and the fundamental strikes, building a solid technical base from day one.
  • Intermediate members work on longer combinations, defensive movement and power generation.
  • Advanced students refine timing, counters and fight specific tactics, with optional controlled sparring for those who want it.

Sparring is never mandatory. Plenty of our members train purely for fitness and skill, and they get world class coaching either way.

Learn from Coaches Who Have Done It for Real

Verano Boxing Club was founded by former professional boxer Jake Verano, and that fighter DNA runs through everything we do. Our coaching team includes experienced competitors who have tested their skills in the ring, not just studied them. That means you learn striking that actually works, taught with the patience and structure that beginners need.

Located in Sai Ying Pun on Hong Kong Island, the gym is minutes from Sai Ying Pun MTR and an easy trip from Sheung Wan, Central and Kennedy Town. Full class facilities, quality equipment and a welcoming community come standard.

FAQs About Kickboxing Classes in Hong Kong

No. Fitness is a result of training, not a requirement for it. Every drill scales to your current level, and your conditioning builds naturally within the first few weeks of consistent classes.

For your first sessions, nothing. The gym can lend you gloves while you decide if the sport is for you. Once you commit, we recommend investing in your own boxing gloves, hand wraps and shin guards, and our coaches can advise on sizing and brands.

Two to three sessions per week is the sweet spot for most people. At that frequency, members typically notice improved fitness and visible technique gains within four to six weeks.

Yes. Beginner training is built entirely around pads, bags and partner drills with no head contact. Coaches supervise every round and teach control first, so injuries in regular classes are rare.

Absolutely. We have members across a wide range of ages, and classes let you set your own intensity. Kickboxing is an excellent way to maintain mobility, bone density and cardiovascular health as you get older.
